During a tragic 15-car accident pile up in Las Vegas Indy Car driver Dan Wheldon passed away. Dan Wheldon’s car went airborne after he hit another car during lap 12. Wheldon was airlifted to a nearby Las Vegas hospital, but tragically lost his life.
Indy Car CEO Randy Bernars announced his death “IndyCar is very sad to announce that Dan Wheldon has passed away from un-survivable injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today." Dan Wheldon won the Indy 500 in 2005 and 2011, he was 33 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his friends and family.
