Who is Julisa Abad?

Some of you may have read a few posts about her on the site these past couple months. But who is she really? Here's the scoop...

Julisa Abad is a 27 year old Puerto Rican and Dominican man, who a few years ago transitioned into a woman. She has always believed, even at a young age that she was trapped in the wrong body. Born in Boston, and raised in Tampa, Fl, Julisa has been the talk of the town (internet) in recent months. I reached out to Julisa for an interview and she accepted. Check it out below:

StunnaFizz: What do you want the world to know about you?

Julisa Abad:
I just want to bring awareness to the world of what its like being transgendered and what we go through on a regular basis; which so many people take for granted for example, just going to the grocery store, or trying to live like everyone else, and pursue my dreams. I struggle with being judged, mocked, ridiculed, gawked and stared at. Before all of this, finding employment was so much harder.

SF: How do you plan to raise awareness on these issues?

JA:
I'm writing a book. The book is about my life and my struggles. About what I've been through and what I'm accomplishing. And of course I will touch on the whole Jojo situation, so people are aware of how it actually went down.

SF: What's people's biggest misconception about you?

JA:
You can't help what people say or write about you and how you will be judged, but I will say without throwing darts at anyone, anything and I mean ANYTHING I've said has been the truth ....I haven't retracted anything I said or issued an apology. Innocent people don't say sorry, if anything I'd think people would be grateful that they were mentioned as much as I was in 2011.

SF: What's next for Julisa? What are your upcoming projects?

JA:
I have a magazine cover coming out March 2012 for "The Lyfe Magazine", which I hope everyone goes out and gets.

I wear Mary Kay in many of my photoshoots. I'm working with Mary Kay so that my supporters, Team Abad, can make any purchase over $50.00, and they will receive a 'Team Abad' shirt. I have a website that they can visit www.julisaabad.com as well as www.teamabad.com which is a social networking place for the GLBT youth to discuss whatever they feel. I'm hosting parties as well as club appearances and can be reached at bookjulisaabad@yahoo.com. Also look me up on twitter @Julisa_abad and continue to follow I have alot of surprises coming up!

EMPIRE STATE OF STUNNA

So my trip to NYC a couple weeks ago was nothing short of amazing! I flew out on a Thursday morning, a little fearful of bad weather. And I had every reason to be...it rained like I've never seen the first day, and the wind-CRAZY!! I wasn't feeling well either and I walked around all day wet and cold. Not a good look, first day sucked can't even lie. So met up with some friends and had dinner, then called it a night early.

FRIDAY:

The next day was great! Weather was perfect, it was semi-warm, sun shining. Awesome! So we hail a taxi to Cosmic Diner (I think that's the name) and boy watched as we enjoyed out lunch. After that we skedaddled about, ending up in Central Park.

We were harassed by all these people trying to get us to ride in their pedi-cabs. I was like hecky no...and get away from me lol. My sis and I took lots of pix until we were approached again my a guy named Cass. He fed us alot of bs...and my naive sister was just eating it up. So I just went ahead and agreed, and I'm glad I did because I had alot of fun. He rode us around Central Park, and we made some random friends on the way haha.

Then we went to the Time Warner Center to do some shopping. Later we made our way back to the hotel (The Bentley Hotel) and rested a bit, showered, and changed. We ate a poor man's dinner. Waited for our friends to arrive to the hotel and then headed out for the night. We hailed a taxi and to my surprise out driver was super duper sexxxyyyyy! So I batted my eyelashes a few times and that's probably how he became our (free) personal driver for the night lol. This night was sooo random. I met all these Irish people, I almost broke my finger on a roll of toilet paper the size of my head, my sister volunteered her services at a pub (yeah she really worked there haha), I lost my friends for hours and then randomly found them again. Ish was crazy ok. Later we at at the Ritz, and back to sleep we went. Oh...and my poor friend lost her wallet this night too. She was pissed!

SATURDAY:

We head down to Chinatown for lunch, and then shopping ALL day long.

Towards the end of the day I had to pee like no other. If you've ever been to NYC, you understand that finding a public restroom is like finding the Holy Grail. After blocks of searching I stumbled across a Starbucks and get in the back of this long freakin line. While I'm waiting I scan the room and I see...Lasse Larsen!!! He's a model and he was dating Chilli from TLC on 'What Chili Wants'. I was so excited yet intimidated all at the same time. Never have I been nervous to approach someone, but I was this time...or maybe I just didn't want to pee myself. But anyways I tell my friend to hold my place while I introduce myself to Lasse. I go up to him as he types away on his laptop and I tap his knee a couple times. He looks up reluctantly. I say "aren't you..." He gives me look as if he doesn't want me to expose him. I catch the drift and proceed to talk to him in code. I ask if he is still dating 'her', he says no and I feel my knees get weak. Everyone in Starbucks is now watching me might I add haha. I then introduce myself and he introduces himself, I admitted to him that I didn't remember his name.

Then I went about my business. Later we had dinner with some more friends. Then back to hotel for our last night on the town. We head to Times Square and meet tons of people including the UCONN basketball team. They were cool...some of them at least. Then we met Bones Brigante!! I love him. He is a rapper mostly known for his Freestyle Friday appearances on 106&park.

SUNDAY:

We still roaming the streets and before I know it its 6am...flight leaves at 9am. we make our way back to the hotel, change clothes, pack our bags, checkout, and we are airport bound. NO SLEEP!!! Jump on the plane and back home we go...

P.S. I'll be back to NYC soon...
